nurture a healthier work/life balance

Living in an increasingly digital world can make hitting the sweet spot between work and play feel like an unachievable feat.

Thankfully, a career at Lifehouse Spa lends itself well to influencing that balance every. single. day. Of course, working in such a beautiful location is a major plus, and the Lifehouse staff perks are pretty good too. In addition, we are dedicated to cultivating an encouraging and supportive environment for our team.

We place value in our people, not just their skills and experience. Nurturing professional development and taking care to listen to any feedback or ideas, and being proactive in response.

Creating time for YOU is what Lifehouse is all about. Here are some tips from the inside about finding some calm in a very busy world.

Digital Detox

We know it’s not always possible to switch off completely. But time spent without gadgets allows us to really step-away from outside noise and enjoy the little moments.

Just because you don’t have your phone, doesn’t mean you can’t be productive. Pop your phone out of sight (on top of the fridge/in a cupboard) and enjoy being totally present. Cooking, taking a bath, gardening or organising your record collection.

An hour a day phone-free can make all the difference.

Prioritise Sleep

Easier said than done when the to-do list is as long as your arm. We recommend introducing a healthy sleep routine to keep your body clock regulated.

  • Turn off gadgets an hour before bed & aim to go to bed at the same time every night.

  • Get an old school alarm clock! It reduces the temptation to pick up and start scrolling if you wake-up.

  • Avoid caffeine after 2pm. If you must… decaf has some pretty good options these days!

  • Make your bedroom a haven of zen. Somewhere to escape the day.

Add ‘YOU’ to the to-dos

Are you guilty of packing your schedule tight with work, family, friends and social commitments?

We’d love you to start scheduling your self-care, too. Adding this into the calendar will make you aware of where and when you can enjoy some downtime, and just how much priority you give to others’ needs over yours.

Embrace nature

Spending time in nature lifts spirits, makes us feel more positive, inspires us, relieves stress and anxiety and keeps us fit. And nothing compares to the sleep you have after a day spent in the great outdoors.

Not got much time? Even a short burst of fresh air facilitates concentration and elevates our mood, so don’t skip that lunchtime walk!

You are what you eat

At Lifehouse we’re lucky to have an incredible chef Ugo Simonelli who creates delicious, balanced menus for our guests. Make eating a hobby by curating your own book of healthy seasonal meals that can be made in a flash, and enjoyed with friends.
